O and i looked at how MD/SP work and even if i was vulnerable it wouldn't mean a thing I could tell you my email's and password's But i have 2FA on everything So you need many things to access any of my accounts Email Password 1 of 2 devices (authenticator codes split between them) 16 digit pin for device My thumb print Its almost impossible to get into anything of meaning so i may well not be protected from them taking irrelevant stuff But i am protected from them taking protected accounts and data All my sensitive stuff is wiped when i close firefox or stored in zip folders that are on a separate disconnected drive

Well my bios is 6 years old And as i said the performance i got 4 years ago is identical today so tests arnt needed And the only vulnerabilities my computer has are 2 ports commonly used ti inject programs but comodo catches everything that comes through I had a security "expert" do a talk at my school 2 years ago and i challenged him he couldn't put anything into my computer and couldn't take data off it either He tried both over wireless and ethernet To hack me you need physical access to my computer or be more capable that the security "expert" that came to my school 2 years ago

+CommanderWolfyX Forgot to tell you that the program also lets you disable the SP/MD patches, but I would suggest that you disable any connection to the internet while running disabled. Wireless or hardline. Do your CineBench tests before and after, and compare the results. Make sure to run the tests multiple times in a row, and take an average of the tests.

Vor Monat

+CommanderWolfyX The performance issues are due to the fixes in the BIOS, the microcode for the CPU itself, and in Windows. Are you really protected against SP/MD? You should download this little program to verify your protection. InSpectre is the name of the program, from Gibson Research. Steve Gibson has a lot of experience in the field, and has many tests you can do to validate your safety online, as well as a great exposure test called ShieldsUp. I will provide links below. I suggest you read through some of his material as well. InSpectre - http://www.grc.com/inspectre.htm ShieldsUp - (Just follow the links) - http://www.grc.com/default.htm Please feel free to get back to me once you've tested your system with InSpectre, and let me know if you are fully protected. My guess is that you are not, and that is why you are not seeing any performance degradation in your system.

I like like this guy! excellent overview, but nothing earth-shattering design-wise. I still don't support intel because they're a corrupt anti-consumer corporation. It's AMD for now, then hopefully we can see RISC-V in future.

Those greedy people should first stop treating their customers as idiots and since the 10nm transistors are going to be more power efficient, they should first ensure that those chips would be supported on the current platform.

New vulnerabilities... mmm... well.. exposed theoretically in research since about 1992 to Intel who ignored it and brushed it off since then as "theoretical only"/"no one will realistically invest enough time to do it practically" well after decades someone did invest the time and did it practically suddenly CPU makers are freaking out especially Intel. It's not new, it's old as hell that's what is annoying about it, the ignorance in industry, hiding it, dismissing it, dumping stocks for profit before it goes public, not having a clean solution to it after decades of knowing about it, and so on.

Less changes from Sandy to Skylake than from Bulldozer to Excavator from architectural point of view and performance gains. This is 4th proper revision of raised from ashes of P6 core Nehalems, who evolved to Sandy...... and so on? Intel is really stagnated. and thats yet another change in the roadmap and more marketing without actual samples that give some metrics. OEMs will be pissed. Intel better wake up. because Zen2 already is ahead of them, performance gains are guaranteed, looking at AMD revisions history, and chiplet design is truly revolutionary and may bring cost effectiveness of cpu manufacturing to new level. Now Via must wake their asses and IBM must get hold of x86 ISA.

ok, I have a silly Q, how is only 2 load/store units enough? take a simple A+B=C operation, that's two bits of data that need to be loaded from memory (A and B) and the instruction, and then the output needs to be sent back to memory (C), that's 4 loads/stores at least for the simple add operation. isn't that going to seriously limit the CPU's ability to get stuff done if it has fewer than 4 load/store units per thread? Great vid Ronak, Steve, and crew. B)

The side of Intel no one sees, The brains, the actual innovators. All people see are the marketing teams and their really REALLY bad job of representing products, and at the end of the day the guys like this are the ones that take the hit. Really really sad to see. I wouldn't poke an Intel product with a 10ft pole but I hope they stay competitive with Sunny Cove because at the end of the day the best thing for consumers is fierce competition.

I am still butthurt about the BULLSHIT intel 1151v2 socket, I had to build a pc, cuz I needed it, and built a z270 rig, threw a close to free i5 6600k in it, delided it, OCd it to 4.6 for 24/7/365 use (under 60C tunning handbrake for 4 hours, and various AVX work loads) and intended to upgrade when the 6 core/12thread 1151 pin cpu's came out. . . Then they fucked over all Z270 buyers a couple months later, and I ended up buying the 7700k to dod and run at 5.0ghz 24/7, cuz that's what they left for the retards like me who bought a Z270 chipset hoping it would be supported for more than 6 months. That has always been my gripe, they over price everything because Intel's brand allows it, and they never support a socket (even when it's trivial to do as seen by bios mods that allowed users to remap pins and run and 8th gen just acking away) So moral of the story, I'll be switching to an AMD in the future if Intel doesn't get their pricing and planned obsolescence road map in check.

I like it a good initial interview that might be a solid open door moving forward. Anything not on the slides is under NDA so heavy it would crush a concrete block, so being too pushy would loose the initial goodwill shown by Intel to allow the interview in the first place. Intel is a bunch of microcode introverts, any social media drama/trauma would mean immediate amputation of all those social distractions. I found it a nice conversation without all the dreary marketing enthusiasm.
