Allyn Malventano as your go to for SSD information? He makes quite a few mistakes in his reviews; (states that the 660p uses 1GB of DRAM, for example, and then never fixes the mistake after it was mentioned by a reader with source) this is quite an ordeal, as it's possible the 660p uses Host Memory Buffer or stores the data in the provisioned static pSLC cache. Very puzzling. I'd suggest Chris Ramseyer or Sean Webster. Webster's 660p review is far superior when it comes to the content in the review, in my opinion. Allyn doesn't even mention that the 660p uses two SLC caches; static and a dynamic cache pool.

I have the former, my kids chipped in for the latter (they're young) as a Christmas present for me and I'm not half the asshole my father was, which is saying something. If so, give me a nudge in the right direction, if not, happy Christmas mate.

It is absurd how huge ISPs have been allowed to get... When Century Link bought out Qwest our Mbps halved and they doubled our bill without any warning. Talking to customer service got nothing and ended up switching to a local ISP that gave loads better service.

That's it, I'm not using Intel on my next build. I was leaning to AMD Ryzen 2 sometime next year, but this move by Intel seals the deal. I was disappointed that Ryan went to Intel and am really disappointed that he poached these two (and disappointed in them). Sure, they want to get paid - no faulting them there. But it feels shady to do this so quickly. It will likely kill PC Per.

In my opinion people leaving AMD for Intel is not actually a bad look on AMD - rather a really bad look for Intel, which knows it needs new people to keep up with how the future looks. Having to, most likely, pay really big bucks for people from elsewhere.

The penalties that these corporations have to pay are just passed onto the consumer. So the "refunds" that these people are getting are just going to go right back into Charters coffers via higher fees, unless the customer cuts the cord - which is difficult when the only way a majority of people can GET Internet connectivity is via cable.

Oh joy, RGB attacks. That may explain my Christmas update present for iCUE. This, along with the Windows 10 update this past week was such a joy. Every time, something doesn't work right until settings are changed and some of the features needing to be changed don't seem to be related at all to the software being updated. It was especially exciting not to have sound for a little while until the right settings were made. Moreover, the updates took FOREVER and required a reboot or two at the most awkward time. Nevertheless, it's better than the alternative. Good video. Wish I watched it sooner. 3nm... any opinions on quantum effects at that scale? Maybe we'll find something truly wonderfully weird.

Do most Americans know that the costs of their cable bill, and also the reason why cable companies for the most part across the US suffer to make profits (yes, that's right, and the reason why companies like Verizon who developed FIOS, and Time-Warner got out of bringing signals into homes) is because the NETWORKS cost SO ####### much? You think it's funny when cable companies get slapped with a fine. You won't think it's funny when the networks own the cable companies because no other business wants to own data lines that go to homes anymore, and your internet bills are $100+ a month, because the only way to make money in that business is through the internet, and not the TV side. BTW, your cable company (and by cable I mean ALL the signals that come into your house, not just TV) has to pay a large fee to the networks to carry their signal, and pass them on to your home. Now, if you want to know why Networks cost so much, the Networks pay out 24 BILLION a year just to the NFL. The economy of the NFL is greater than that of most countries. Then for the networks, you add in what they pay out for the NBA, MLB, NCAA, and what you get is the MAIN reason why your cable bill, and in the future your internet bill is/will be very expensive. So bash away at your cable companies people. The networks are getting a really big laugh at the whole thing. Meanwhile your cable company has to do whatever it can to minimize its payroll and consequently the amount of support you might get. Now I know what MAYBE a small amount of people here are smart enough to figure out, just like my son did but only because he's a masters degree in science for economics. Yes these companies are large conglomerates who have revenue coming in from multiple streams and can afford some fine. Yes, that's true, but even conglomerates don't like to own some type of business that is making them little to no money, and once again why Verizon, who had the best thing around wherever they had FIOS, and Time-Warner, got out of that business. No large company wants to continually deal with flat profits, AND be in a business that always upsets people every time costs go up.  For non-US people here, disregard since it doesn't apply to you. Lucky you.

"Why do people complain about RGB on everything? If you don't like it just turn it off in software!!!" Well gee. I already hated more RGB because I don't want to install bloatware to possibly control it if it feels like working. I don't want to pay more for products that come with useless features (BOM cost might not be much, but that's not going to stop them from jacking up the price for it). I don't like all the extra cables it introduces. And _now_ you can add that I don't want malware to the list. This RGB fad can't die soon enough.

Spectrum's still getting away with not paying their technicians (from Time Warner) their pensions though. The guys were on strike for like 2+ years and had to go find other jobs. Basically getting nothing for putting in 25+ years in. Such a scumbag company. I was hoping they got banished from NY. The loss of business and fiber investment, the free service until departure, and having to maintain the cost of running the service in that time would've been way worse a punishment than this 174 mil payout.

could be why lazy anticheat didn't wanna let me run fartnite until I cut the rgb controller from gigabyte? that was way back in march or paril, or whenever they rolled out lazy anticheat into a patch though. not sure if they were aware of that way back then since this is news to me. thankfully I don't use appcenter and it's apps any more after rumors about it borking peoples' bios even when not using the bios updater, something to do with coming out of sleep, which I also don't use any more, I just power down now. I had different issues from those things after 1803 earlier in the year, and never started using any of that since just since I don't need it all. I was pretty po'd about lazy anticheat at the time, but maybe there was a reason for that nuisance after all if they knew something I didn't about the rgb controls. Intel: "We never expected this one, two combo from amd… what exactly do we do? nothing, just poach em and wait things out on brand name." lol I remember something when spectrum was time warner, it was doing the throttling shit back when I was playing league in early seasons. That shit literally cost me matches. turned out years later that they were throttling people, throttling gamers, many of them league players... I could never figure out what was causing my random ping spikes in that game so when that came out I just took that as the answer for it. I literally looked over everything that I knew of, and everything suggested, and every obscure setting and test google came up with and couldn't prevent it. Their name may have changed to charter or spectrum, but they're tactics remain the same when it comes to throttling. it seems the ny branches of that isp love tot hrottle, I was living in new yuck at the times I being throttled while playing league.

That Charter lawsuit is bullshit, at multiple levels. First, everything about it's being sold from the propaganda of the Attorney General - repeating hyperbolic claims about defrauding customers and so on is coming from the mouth of the body who leveled the suit in the first place. There's no representation or evidence brought forward on behalf of the defendant, and there's no telling whether this was justly adjudicated or if it was another typical New York State kangaroo court case. Second, what New York State is setting a precedent for is state-controlled industry - and we know where that road leads. Since when is it the government's job to level marketing and business reforms, or dictating the terms of a technological industry's services to private consumers? You might raise "mah consumer protection regulation" as a case for this, but this particular suit has nothing to do with consumer protection at its core. The whole thing reeks of "because we can", where Charter's shortcomings in New York State can most certainly be blamed in part by the state's ridiculous taxes, licenses, unionization and bureaucracy. Third, while only $62.5 million is actually required to be paid out, there's no such thing as "free". The cost of this lawsuit is going to be passed right back to consumers in the form of even more expensive services in the future. Not to mention that it takes away from the funding that might actually be put towards infrastructure improvements, and that Charter customers who don't even live in NYS and have no alternatives are going to have to fit the bill for this penalty.
